Word of warning for casual Pink Floyd listeners. It’s totally worth a listen to if you’re a Pink Floyd fan and even if you’re not, it’s worth having a listen. The sound here is decent, as decent as you can get for a bootleg dating back to 1968, but it showcases the very early years of what was to become the final lineup of Pink Floyd. This particular show was after Syd Barret had left the band due to his personal and drug problems and David Gilmour had just joined. In 1968, Pink Floyd was just starting to get their legs under them. Along with the nearby Melkweg (Milky Way), it soon became synonymous with the hippie counterculture and the rock music of that era. In 1968 the city opened Paradiso as a publicly subsidized youth entertainment center. The police ended the festivities the same year. Paradiso was squatted by hippies in 1967 who wanted to convert the church into an entertainment and leisure club. The Paradiso dates back to the nineteenth century and was used as a church facility until taken over by hippies in the 60’s. This Pink Floyd bootleg is from May 23, 1968, live from Amsterdam, Netherlands and the venue was The Paradiso. I’ve done my fair share of searching for the odd Pink Floyd bootleg and there’s one particular one that’s a must listen. ![]() If you’re a rabid Pink Floyd fan then you probably have a Pink Floyd bootleg CD somewhere.
